Hazel Tree Education are currently supporting a well-regarded secondary school in Wigan which caters for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH).

The school require an experienced, enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to support learners on a full-time basis, Monday to Friday.

The successful applicant must have experience working with learners with additional needs, specifically SEMH, and a clear and current DBS on the Update Service.

This ‘Good’ school enables children to feel valued and respected as individuals and encourages them to be constructively involved in life and work outside of the school, too.

The school’s most recent Ofsted report remarks that the school ‘provides a broad curriculum that is under regular review. You adapt it well to pupils’ needs and interests and individualise it superbly. Careers guidance is good, with activities such as visits to universities and colleges and the use of alternative provision which lead to apprenticeships and employment.’

What we’re looking for:

  • A recognised qualification in Teaching and Learning or Childcare or experience working with children in a formal setting e.g school, residential, sports coaching.
  • An interest in supporting children with additional needs.
  • A resilient, pro-active nature with a positive, can-do attitude.

Successful candidates must have:

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update service or be willing to purchase one at a cost of £60.50
  • At least two references including most recent/current employer.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy with excellent written and verbal communication.
