Hazel Tree Education is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support a primary-aged pupil on a 1:1

basis at a welcoming and supportive school in Wigan as soon as possible.

This role will involve working closely with a child with moderate to severe autism, providing consistent support to help them access learning, develop communication skills, and engage positively within the school environment.

As this is a 1:1 position, continuity and consistency are extremely important. The successful candidate must be able to commit to the role in its entirety to ensure stability for the pupil.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a primary-aged child with autism
  • Support the pupil with learning activities, communication, and social development
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored support strategies
  • Help create a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment
  • Support the pupil with emotional regulation and daily routines

Requirements

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting children with moderate to severe autism is highly desirable
  • An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service
  • A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong commitment to the role to ensure consistency for the pupil
