Hazel Tree Education is currently recruiting for a resilient and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Chorley ASAP on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis.
This role is ideal for individuals who are confident managing challenging behaviour, remaining calm under pressure, and building positive relationships with young people who require additional support.
We are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in the armed forces, policing, prison services, probation, or security who are looking to transfer their valuable skills into a rewarding role within education.
If you have experience maintaining safe environments, de-escalating difficult situations, and working as part of a strong team, your skills could make a real difference in a school setting.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students who require behavioural and emotional support to engage in their learning.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students in the classroom on a 1:1 or small group basis
- Helping students regulate behaviour and remain engaged in lessons
- Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour calmly and professionally
- Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom organisation
- Promoting a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
- Acting as a consistent and supportive role model for young people
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking individuals who are calm, resilient, and confident working with challenging behaviour.
You will need:
- Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour
- A proactive and patient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to remain calm in pressured situations
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
