Hazel Tree Education is currently recruiting for a committed and resilient SEMH Teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to work within a supportive school setting in Wigan. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them to re-engage with learning and reach their full potential. The role is to start ASAP and will be full time and will begin temporary  but will then become permanent.

As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a key role in creating a structured, nurturing environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and motivated to succeed. The role requires a teacher who can build strong relationships with pupils, understand behavioural challenges, and implement strategies that promote positive outcomes both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and structured lessons tailored to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Develop positive relationships with pupils to encourage trust, engagement, and confidence
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies to support pupils’ emotional regulation
  • Work collaboratively with support staff and external professionals to support individual learning plans
  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching approaches to support development

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs or within alternative provision is desirable
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • A resilient, patient, and proactive approach to teaching
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain a new one
